Ibadan Traders decry Hike Price of Food Items

By Michael Adeyemo

Some Traders in Ibadan, the Oyo State Capital have appealed to the federal government to address the lingering increase in the cost of goods and services in the country

Speaking with some traders at Dugbe and Ogunpa markets our correspondents gathered that sales in the build up to the Christmas festivities were below expectations, a situation that has been blamed on hike in prices of food items and transportation.

Decrying the hike in prices of food items, the traders said a bag of rice which was sold at thirty five thousand naira in previous months, now sells for fifty thousand naira and more.

Other food items like beans, palm oil, noodles and peppers have had their prices increased by more than 50%

The traders therefore called on government at all levels, to find a lasting solution to the present economic challenges in the country, in order to bring succour to the masses
