Daughter of former Nigerian president and Ogun governorship aspirant, Iyabo Obasanjo, has paid a visit to President Bola Tinubu at his Lagos residence.
Speaking via a statement on Tuesday, Obasanjo disclosed that she briefed President Tinubu on her governorship ambition.
She also told the president about her plans for the state.
She outlined her vision for the state, highlighting priorities in governance, development, and public service if elected.
Obasanjo also reflected on her long-standing relationship with President Tinubu, describing it as one built over years of political engagement and mutual respect.
She noted that the relationship has shaped her political journey and informed her approach to leadership.
She said, “On Monday in Lagos, I had the privilege of meeting His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and our conversation was insightful and forward-looking, focusing on leadership, governance and the ongoing development of our nation and Ogun State.”
During the meeting, the former commissioner reaffirmed her loyalty to the ruling party and pledged to actively mobilise support for President Tinubu ahead of the next general election.
Speaking about her desire to succeed Governor Dapo Abiodun in 2027, Obasanjo said, “I have been part of the political landscape of this state for many years, and I understand the aspirations and challenges of our people.
“I am not new to the system, and I believe that experience is important when it comes to governance and delivering meaningful development to the people.
