JDPC Urges Oyo Govt to Key into Agriculture Insurance Scheme

The Head of Department, Integrated Development Programme of Justice, Development and Peace commission, JDPC, Ibadan, Mr Alaba Ogunbosoye has described as inadequate the recent empowerment of about 10,000farmers by the Oyo state government.

Mr Ogunbosoye, who is also an Agricultural economist made this known on while featuring on ‘Isejoba rere’ a development agenda weekly programme of JDPC, Ibadan with the support of Meserior on Pensioners’ FM.

He said the yardstick used by the state government in choosing the 10,000farmers was not made public.

Mr Ogunbosoye, however, advised the state government to form an ad hoc committee in the future that would see to the distribution of palliatives adequately to all deserving farmers in the state and keep records of their activities.  

The Agricultural economist also enjoined the state government to key into the Agricultural Insurance Scheme, a platform farmers could use to access subsidised farm inputs and to regain losses during natural disasters such as flooding

Mr Ogunbosoye also stressed the need for Governor Makinde to encourage youths to agriculture. Isejoba Rere’ which is a development agenda programme by JDPC, Ibadan with the support of Meserior, holds every Thursday on Pensioners FM from half past two to 3’ O’clock in the afternoon.
