Ladoja Urges Ooni to Foster Unity among Yoruba Monarchs

The former Governor of Oyo State and the Olubadan-designate, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, has called on the Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Ogunwusi, to further foster unity among traditional rulers in the Yoruba-speaking states.

Oba Ladoja made this call while playing host to the Ooni of Ife, Oba Ogunwusi, who visited him at his Bodija private residence in Ibadan, the state capital.

He further urged Yoruba monarchs to focus on strengthening the cultural values and institutions that unite them, rather than those that divide.

Earlier, the Ooni of Ife, Oba Ogunwusi, described Oba Ladoja as a father of all, saying his ascension to the throne represented a turning point for Yoruba traditional leadership.

He called on traditional rulers to shun rivalry, backbiting, and unhealthy power tussles.

Oba Ladoja would be installed as the 44th Olubadan on Friday, ollowing the demise of the 43rd Olubadan, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, who joined his ancestors 7 th of July, 2025, at the age of 90 years.
