Lagos State has restated its commitment to ending the scourge of malaria, with Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu declaring that the state will not rest until malaria becomes history.
The governor made this known during the Mid-Term Review of the Pathway to Malaria Pre-Elimination in Lagos State.
The review session brought together national policymakers, international development partners, and private sector stakeholders to evaluate progress on the Impact Project and the digitalisation initiative launched earlier in March.
The governor disclosed that Lagos had reduced malaria prevalence to around one percent, a milestone he described as proof that the state is on track to achieve elimination.
He highlighted the impact of the state’s newly introduced digital malaria surveillance system, which links public and private hospitals, pharmacies, and patent medicine vendors to monitor and report cases in real time.
Sanwo-Olu urged residents to take personal responsibility for prevention by destroying mosquito breeding sites, testing before treatment, and making use of the formal healthcare system.
