Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde has called for a transparent andaccountable media practice in fostering development.
Governor Makinde, represented by the Chief Press Secretary, Sulaimon Olanrewaju, made the call at Press Corps Maiden Retreat 2024, organized by the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Press Corps and Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) in Ibadan.
Governor Makinde, who described the media as a watchdog of the society, urged them to hold government and public officials accountable for their actions.
Governor Makinde further stressed that with the establishment of Oyo State Anti-Corruption Agency (OYACA) and Project Monitoring Agency (PMA), fighting corruption among government officials was guaranteed.
Earlier in his welcome address, President, PDP’s press corps, Samuel Ogidan, commended Governor Makinde for strengthening democracy through the freedom of the press.
