Oyo State Government in collaboration with Sydani Group will begin another round of routine immunisation against Polio-virus Type 2 on Saturday.
A representative of Sydani Group, a consultation firm, Mr Olasunkami Ridwan made this known while featuring on Pensioners’ FM health programme, “Radio Clinic.”
According to Mr Ridwan, the circulating Polio-virus type 2 is less virulent than the wild polio-virus, but can also cause paralysis.
He urged parents to present their children under five years old for immunisation against the polio virus as from tomorrow, as health care workers will be moving from door to door for the exercise.
“Health care workers will also visit churches, mosques and market places for the immunisation”, he said.
Mr Ridwan, also noted that Polio immunisation and other diseases that require vaccination are free and available at all Primary Health Centres in the State.
“No one will demand money from you at Primary Health Centres for immunisations and vaccinations, because they are freely provided for by the government, so people should seize the opportunity to get prevented against diseases that have no cure.”
The representative lauded the Oyo state government and traditional rulers in communities visited by Sydani Group, for championing the campaign and awareness on the importance of immunisation and vaccination against preventable diseases.
