NLC Condemns Attack in Oriire LGA, Calls for Swift Govt. Action

The Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, Oyo State Council has condemned the recent bandit attack and abduction incident that occurred in the Ogbomoso axis of Oyo State.

Chairman, Oyo NLC, Comrade Kayode Martins in a statement described the attack on innocent citizens as a grave assault on the peace, educational stability, and socio-economic wellbeing of Oyo state.

According to the statement, Comrade Martins urged the security agencies to ensure that perpetrators of the barbaric act are thoroughly investigated, arrested, and prosecuted in accordance with the law, to serve as a deterrent to other criminal elements.

The union said the safety and security of workers, teachers, students and all residents of the state should remain a priority, noting that the union remains committed to supporting every  effort aimed at protecting lives and property across the State.

The union however prayed for the safe return of all abducted victims and for the restoration of lasting peace, stability, and progress in Oyo State and Nigeria at large.

The Council expressed profound sadness over the trauma, fear, and hardship inflicted on the affected families, schools, and communities.

They extends its heartfelt sympathies to the good people of Ogbomoso, the Government and citizens of Oyo State, and particularly the Nigeria Union of Teachers, NUT over the unfortunate incident involving educators, pupils, and other innocent residents.

Oyo NLC also expressed support for the Oyo State Government and all relevant security agencies in their ongoing efforts to restore peace, rescue the abducted victims, and ensure the swift apprehension of those responsible for this heinous act. We call for intensified intelligence gathering and coordinated security operations to secure the immediate and safe release of all victims.
