Imo State Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC and Nigeria Union of Pensioners, NUP, say the unions attention have been drawn to fake and misleading information currently circulating concerning the alleged directive to Pensioners to submit their particulars to the office of the Secretary to the State Government for payment of gratuities.
This was made known in a statement jointly signed by the state NLC Chairperson Comrade Uche Nwigwe and the state NUP chairman, Comrade Benjamin Ugochukwu.
The statement categorically stated that the information is false, unauthorized, and did not emanate from NLC and NUP.
According to the statement, labour engagement with the state Government for the payment of the next batch of gratuity is still on and the state Governor Hope Uzodinma is very much on course for the payment as he promised.
The statement advised all pensioners in the state to disregard the fake news and avoid falling victim to misinformation, fraudsters, or unauthorized individuals demanding money or personal details in connection with gratuity payments.
The statement added that for accurate information, clarification, and official updates regarding gratuity matters, all concerned pensioners are strongly advised to contact or visit the state’s NUP office and NLC Secretariat.
The leadership of the organized labour noted that it remains committed to protecting the interest and welfare of pensioners and workers at all times.
