Ooni Donates N10million to Disengaged OAUTH Staff

The Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Ogunwusi, has donated ten million naira and one thousand bags of rice to the disengaged staff of Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital, OAUTH Ile-Ife, Osun state to Ameliorate their suffering as a result of the non-payment of their eleven-month unpaid salaries.

Oba Ogunwusi announced the donation in his palace in Ile-Ife while addressing the angry youths.

The traditional ruler assured them that he was working with relevant stakeholders including the Federal Ministry of Health among others to resolve the crisis.

Speaking on behalf of the disengaged workers, their spokesperson, Mr Samson Falope, explained that the hospital management served them a circular last week Wednesday, disengaging over 1,500 workers from their duty posts after serving the institution for about 15 months without any salary. 

Mr Falope noted that the sacked workers had made an attempt to seek an audience with the Management of the hospital but all to no avail.

Some armed policemen on Monday chased away protesters who were armed with placards at the main entrance of the hospital.
