Oyo Govt. Begins Monthly Payments of Gratuities, Death Benefits

The Oyo State Government has commenced the monthly payment of gratuities and death benefits to retired local government staff and retired primary school teachers across the 7 geopolitical zones of the state.

Chairman, Local Government Staff Pension Board, LGSPB, Honourable Akeem Ige made this known at the flag off ceremony of the payment, held at Local Government Staff Training School, Secretariat, Ibadan.

According to Honourable Ige, the state government approved over five hundred and fifty million naira for this month’s payment to over 134 beneficiaries across all the geopolitical zones.

Honourable Ige said Governor Seyi Makinde approved the monthly payment of gratuities and death benefits to improve the standard of living of retirees in the state.

Earlier in a remark, Permanent Secretary, LGSPB, Alhaji Lukmon Muraina while advising the beneficiaries to spend the money wisely, said the board would commence “I AM ALIVE” verification exercise after this month’s payment, to know the accurate data of the state retirees.

Some of the beneficiaries lauded Governor Makinde for being a pensioners’ friendly governor since the inception of his administration.

Dignitaries present were Chairman Oyo NUP Retired Primary School Teachers, Dosu Akinpelu, Chairman, Retired Local Government Workers, Alhaji Muniru Adesope and other government functionaries.
