Oyo Govt. Debunks Sale of Agodi Gardens

Contrary to speculations that the Oyo State Government has sold the Agodi Gardens, the State Commissioner for land and urban development, Mr Williams Akin-Funmilayo, has revealed that the plan was to upgrade the Gardens.

Mr Akin-Funmilayo, refuted the claims while taking newsmen on a tour of the over 9 hectares of Agodi Botanical Gardens and the 46 hectares of the forest behind the Gardens.

Mr. Akin-Funmilayo explained that the state government would convert the forest which has become an hideout for perpetrators of various crimes to an housing estate.

The Commissioner noted that Agodi Gardens would equally be upgraded to an International Botanical Garden.

While appealing to members of the public to refrain from spreading false information, Mr Akin-Funmilayo added that work will commence  on the land next year.
