Oyo Govt. Pledges N10m for Ex-Servicemen

Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde has donated ten million naira on behalf of the state government and a personal donation of one million naira to support the appeal fund raising week of 2024 Armed Forces Remembrance day. 

Governor Makinde made the donation at the launching of emblem of the 2024 Armed Forces Remembrance Day Celebration, held at the executive chamber of the governor’s office, secretariat, Ibadan. 

The Governor also pledged continuous support to the welfare of the serving and retired soldiers for their sacrifice and steadfastness in keeping the country safe and secured in spite of various challenges. 

While promising donation of Operational Vehicle to Nigerian Legion, Oyo state Chapter, Governor Makinde also pledged to increase their monthly subvention from 100 to 200 thousand Naira, and additional 500,000 naira through the security section of the state government.

Earlier, Oyo State Chairman, Nigerian Legion, Evangelist Julius Ogunkojo, said that the main focus of the programme was to raise funds in order to cater for Veterans who are still alive but incapacitated, as well as the children and widows of the departed heroes.

The event witnessed the decoration of the state governor, his deputy and other top government functionaries.
