Oyo state Governor, Seyi Makinde has called for more women participation in the labour movement.
Governor Makinde made the call while lauding the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC Oyo State Council for engaging women in its administrative duties, during the union’s 6th Women’s Committee Delegates’ Conference, 2025, held at Pensioners House, Agbarigo, Onireke, Ibadan.
Represented by his Special Adviser on Labour Matters, Barrister Bayo-Titilola Sodo, Governor Makinde said women participation in the labour movement would further enhance women participation in politics.
Governor Makinde also reiterated his administration’s commitment towards the welfare of workers in the state.
On his part, Chairman, Oyo NLC, Comrade Kayode Martins appreciated Governor Makinde’s approach towards workers welfare in the state and advised the newly sworn in executives of the state’s women’s committee to work in harmony for the union’s progress.



In her acceptance speech, the newly elected chairperson of state’s women’s committee, Oyo NLC, Comrade Bolanle Olumide-Lawal appreciated the union for conducting a free, fair and credible election and promised to work towards the development of the union.
Dignitaries present were Secretary, Nigeria Union of Pensioners, Oyo state Council, Comrade Olusegun Abatan, Oyo State Controller, Ministry of Labour and Employment, Mr Festus Igbinosun and Chairman Nigeria Union of Teachers, Oyo State Council, Alhaji Raji Oladimeji.
