Chairman, National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Oyo State Chapter, Comrade Oluwatimilehin- Alex Eniola, has called for proper and sustainable empowerment of youths in the state.
Comrade Eniola made the call in an interview with a Pensioners FM correspondent shortly after his appearance on the station’s Yoruba stewardship programme, “Abo Ree.”
He emphasised that youth empowerment should go beyond mere training, stressing the need for adequate support such as start-up kits to enable young people translate acquired skills into productive ventures.
The NYCN chairman disclosed that the council is currently implementing an initiative known as “”Project one Youth! One Skill,” aimed at ensuring that every young person acquires at least one viable skill.
He added that the project has been discussed with relevant stakeholders and sectors to ensure effective implementation.
Comrade Eniola further called on the Oyo State Government to address youth unemployment by creating more job opportunities.
