OYSIEC Proposes BVAS for LG Poll

The Chairman, Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission, OYSIEC, Aare Isiaka Olagunju, SAN, says the commission is awaiting approval from the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, for the use of Bimodal Voter Accreditation System, BVAS at the forthcoming local government election.

Aare Olagunju, SAN disclosed this while featuring on Pensioners FM weekend Issues-based programme ‘Voice of Liberation’

Aare Olagunju who noted that a letter requesting for the usage of the machine had been sent to INEC.

 ‘The commission would make use of the voter’s register used by the independent National Electoral Commission in the last presidential and governorship elections in Oyo State’.- Aare Olagunju.

Aare Olagunju also noted that INEC commended OYSIEC for being the first State to seek the use of BVAS for conduct of local Government elections in Nigeria.

 The next Local Government Election to elect chairman and councillors for the 33 local governments in Oyo State has been slated for April 27, 2024.
