Pensioners 106.7 FM, Ibadan, has been honoured with an award for the most supportive Radio Station to Community Development in the Southwest.
The top-notch award was conferred on the First Labour Radio in the world at the commemoration of 2023 World Microphone Day, organised by All Tangible Muti-Media Entertainment Network, ATMEN.
The National Coordinator of ATMEN, Ambassador Tajudeen Olanrewaju emphasised that in terms of outstanding Radio Broadcasting benefits to humanity, Pensioners’ 106.7 FM stands out.
“Pensioners FM is worthy of the honour for working in line with its slogan “Voice of liberation”- Ambassador Olanrewaju stated.
Ambassador Olanrewaju, also called on all microphone users, especially Broadcasters to always be mindful of what they say while on air.

Receiving the award on behalf of the station, the General Manager, Dr. Babatunde Tiamiyu, who was also honoured as Veteran and Legendary Administrators in the area of broadcasting, promised that Pensioners’ FM 106.7 will continue to lift the bar of professionalism and ethics, in the discharge of its duties, to reflect its roles as the fourth estate of the realm.
“We just clocked four years and the accolades and acceptability of the radio station have continued to wax stronger, we can only continue to do more for the benefit of mankind”, Dr. Tiamiyu said.
Dr Tiamiyu said the station would continue to do more for the benefit of mankind, saying the station has come to stay.

On her part, Ms Titilope Giwa, the station’s Yoruba female Sports Presenter, who emerged as the Best Young Female SportsCaster in Southwest, appreciated the organiser for honouring her with the award.
“I feel delighted receiving the award and I would like to use this opportunity to thank God for giving me the talent”-Ms Giwa said.
Ms Giwa who said the award for good work is more work, promised to continue to abide by the ethics of the job.

Among other Awardees include General Manager, Melody FM, Lagos, Mr Olaniyi Omisope and one of the consistent callers on Radio Programmes, Master Aranni Yahaya and others.
World Microphone is celebrated on every 9th October and the 2023 event marked the 3rd edition by ATMEN.
