Pensioners FM Holds Elders’ Day Outing in Grand Style

Pensioners FM has again recognized the roles of senior citizens in the society and therefore celebrated them during the fifth edition of Elders’ Day Outing celebration” Ode Agba”.

The celebration, held at the Nigeria Union of Pensioners, NUP, Hall, Onireke, Ibadan, had in attendance pensioners, government officials and other key stakeholders.

Speaking at the event, Chairman on the occasion and President-General of the Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes, CCII, Barrister Ajeniyi Ajewole, commended Pensioners FM for consistently bringing joy to the elderly citizens.

In a remark, Oyo State Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Dr Wasiu Olatubosun, disclosed that the Elders’ Day celebration would henceforth be aligned with the state’s Vibing December programme.

Chairman of Oyo State Local Government Staff Pension Board, Hon. Akeem Ige, alongside member representing Ibadan North-West State Constituency, Hon. Dawood Olalere, popularly known as D-AI-Ameen, congratulated the leadership of the Nigeria Union of Pensioners and Pensioners FM for sustaining the programme over the years.

In his remarks, the Secretary of the Nigeria Union of Pensioners, Oyo State Council, and Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Pensioners FM, Comrade Olusegun Abatan reaffirmed the union’s unwavering commitment to the welfare of pensioners in the state.

He gave an assurance that the legacy of the station’s late Head of Marketing, Mrs. Afolakemi Odeyemi would be sustained.

Similarly, the General Manager of Pensioners 106.7FM, Dr Babatunde Tiamiyu, expressed appreciation to members of Oyo NUP, for their continued support, pledging that the station would remain dedicated to serving the interests of pensioners and the wider society.

Similarly, as part of activities marking the fifth anniversary of Pensioners’ FM Elders’ Day Outing, a free medical outreach was organised for the participants.

The beneficiaries in their hundreds expressed appreciation to the planning committee for the initiative and pledged their continued participation in subsequent editions.

Other highlights of the celebration were lectures and a special horse riding photo shoot, which added colour and excitement to the occasion.

Some of the participants also won gifts from the questions and answers segment and dancing competition.

Other dignitaries at the event were Baale of Onireke, Chief Fatai Aare-Latoosa, the Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Pensioners, Oyo State Council, Comrade James Osuntade, the Assistant Secretary of the union, Comrade Banji Koleoso, the Iyaloja of Ibadanland, Chief Iswat Ameringun, and other notable personalities.

In a related development, the planning committee of the occasion has presented an Award of Excellence to a member of the committee, Mr Olatunde Alaragbayida, in recognition of his contributions to the success of the event.

Presenting the award, Secretary, Nigeria Union of Pensioners (NUP), Oyo State Council, and Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Pensioners FM, Comrade Olusegun Abatan, congratulated Mr Alaragbayida, eulogizing his unwavering commitment to the annual event.

Comrade Abatan noted that Mr Alaragbayida’s dedication has significantly contributed to the growth and continuity of the programme over the years.

Speaking after the award, Mr Alaragbayida lauded the committee for the award and reiterated his commitment toward subsequent events.
