The second round of the National immunisation plus days on Polio will commence in Ondo state from Saturday, 11th to Thursday, 16th of November, 2023.
During the programme, children from age zero to five years will be administered with oral polio vaccine.
Speaking at a stakeholders meeting on polio eradication, the permanent secretary, Ondo state Primary Healthcare development Agency, Dr Francis Akanbiemu appealed to mothers to shun myths and misconceptions about vaccination and present their children for the programme.
Dr Akanbiemu who noted that child morbidity in Nigeria had reduced drastically through vaccination said polio vaccines needed for the second round of immunisation plus days had been distributed to all the eighteen local government areas of Ondo state.

The Permanent secretary maintained that preventive care especially through vaccines was better and cheaper noting that immunisation greatly supported the development as well as survival of any child.
The director disease control in the agency, Dr Victor Adefesoye while urging stakeholders to help in mobilising parents, care givers and school owners for the exercise announced that healthworkers would be visiting churches, mosques, markets, churches and other public places to administer the oral polio vaccine on children.
Some of the stakeholders at the meeting, Mrs Olabisi Omolona and Mrs Temilola Otedola urged the primary healthcare development agency to do more on educating ondo residents on the newly introduced human papiloma virus vaccine, billed for the state next year.
