A Broadcast Media Expert, Elder Derenle Ajisefini, says the advent of social media has affected reading culture in students.
Elder Ajisefini said this in an interview with Pensioners FM Correspondent.
Elder Ajisefini who was a former Director of News and Current Affairs, Radio Nigeria, Ibadan Zonal Station, said lots of students these days are distracted by social media which in turn affects their academic performance.
Elder Ajisefini said if reading culture could be revived, it would help to build knowledge, exposure and mental stability.
He, therefore, urged parents and teachers to play their parts in reviving the reading culture in Nigeria, by ensuring that children start reading from an early age.
