Paul Ibe, a media aide to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has blamed President Bola Tinubu for the state of insecurity in Nigeria.
Ibe attributed the insecurity in the country to Tinubu’s decision to priorities politics in the appointment of those saddled with the responsibility of securing Nigeria.
Posting social media, Ibe wondered why Tinubu would appoint former state governors as the Minister of Defense and Minister of State for Defense when they have no military knowledge.
His comment comes amid the resignation of Mohammed Badaru as Minister of Defense and Tinubu’s nomination of former Chief of Defense Staff, Christopher Musa, as a possible replacement.
However, Ibe wrote: “It is now crystal clear that the state of insecurity in Nigeria is what it is because President Tinubu prioritized politics in the appointment of those saddled with the jobs of security.
“How does he explain that in a season of heightened insecurity, both the Minister of Defense and Minister of State for Defense are not former military personnel with experience in the operational and administrative aspects of military affairs?
“They are both former governors of the states of Zamfara and Jigawa. One is an accountant while the other is a teacher, who, as governor, achieved little in stemming the terrorism and banditry that defined his era. This is yet another confirmation of the trial-and-error model of the Tinubu-led administration.”
