Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, Oyo State Chapter, has called on victims of Gender Based Violence, GBV, to make it a point of duty to speak up.
The State Chairperson, Women Wing of CAN, WOWICAN, Dr Patricia Amaechi-Obi, made the call in an interview with Pensioners FM.
According to Dr Amaechi-Obi, speaking up would help victims get appropriate help and would also aid punishment for perpetrators.
Speaking further, Dr Amaechi-Obi joined her voice with United Nations Children’s Fund, UNICEF, and other stakeholders on the need for parents to get their girl child vaccinated against Human Papilloma Virus, HPV.
Dr Amaechi-Obi, added that HPV vaccine is not to reduce child bearing but to prevent cervical cancer.
