The conference, which kicked off 23rd of June 2025 ended on the 26th of June 2025, the theme Advancing Community Resilience through Doing Good Deeds”  aimed to spotlight the role of volunteerism in driving inclusive and sustainable development across the continent.

Good Deeds Day CEO, Kaynan Rabino, described the conference as a vital opportunity for delegates to share ideas, experiences, and best practices that can be replicated across Africa to promote civic responsibility and grassroots transformation.

“What we are trying to do in the conference is to learn, share stories, get inspired by each other, and bring good ideas back to our countries,” Rabino said. “Everything is for the purpose of volunteering and doing good.”

He also praised Zimbabwe for its existing efforts in volunteerism, adding:

“This event encourages individuals, organizations, and communities to engage in acts of kindness and service, fostering positive change worldwide. Coming to Zimbabwe really shows how great this country is already doing in volunteering and doing good.”

Also speaking at the event, Good Deeds Day Zimbabwe Southern Region Coordinator, Oswald Chishanga, described the conference as a milestone for the nation.

“I believe in terms of volunteer conferences, this is the biggest that this country has actually hosted,” he said. “Hosting this conference will act as a platform to spread the circles of good in the country and also unpack issues of volunteering.”

The Nigeria Lead for Good Deeds Day, Mr. Gbenga Adetola, was among the key representatives in attendance, further highlighting the pan-African commitment to promoting volunteerism as a tool for resilience and positive change.

The conference features a series of panel discussions, workshops, and capacity-building sessions focusing on areas such as education, healthcare, environmental sustainability, and youth development. Organizers hope the event will spark long-term partnerships and concrete strategies to expand the reach and impact of volunteer-driven initiatives across Africa.

As the conference progresses, delegates are expected to strengthen regional cooperation and inspire more citizens to take part in building stronger, more resilient communities through the simple yet powerful act of doing good.Top of Form

Hosted for the first time in Zimbabwe, the summit forms part of the global Good Deeds Day movement, which celebrates acts of kindness and civic engagement. Founded in 2007, the movement has become a worldwide platform for promoting social responsibility.

This year’s global celebrations were held on April 6, and the Harare gathering builds on that momentum by focusing on Africa’s unique contributions and challenges.
