NUP Calls for Implementation of Pension Review for Oyo Tertiary Institution Retirees

The Nigeria Union of Pensioners, NUP, Oyo State Council, has appealed to Governor Seyi Makinde to address the delay in the implementation of the approved pension review for retirees of state-owned tertiary institutions.

Secretary of the union, Comrade Olusegun Abatan, made the appeal while featuring on the station’s weekly current affairs programme, “Trending”.

Comrade Abatan said the institutions claimed they would not be to implementing the new rates without an enabling circular from the state government.

The Oyo NUP Scribe warned that if the payment does not commence before the end of this month, the union would embark on protests across various tertiary institutions in the following month.

Speaking on the presentation of a white horse to Governor Makinde at the state inter- faith service held at Agodi, secretariat, Comrade Abatan said the gesture was made in good faith and symbolised purity of heart towards the governor.

Comrade Abatan added that since the inception of the current administration, the welfare and concerns of pensioners in the state had received considerable attention.
