Home-based talents are set to feature prominently for the Super Eagles after striker Joseph Arumala was named among players selected by head coach Éric Chelle for the 2026 Unity Cup.
Arumala, who plays for Ikorodu City, tops the list after scoring 13 goals in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) this season. The forward previously represented Nigeria at U-17 level and has been one of the league’s standout performers.
According to SCORE Nigeria, two more Ikorodu City players are also set to be included. Enugu Rangers will provide two players, while Rivers United and Shooting Stars will contribute one each. The six players are already in Abuja to process entry visas to the United Kingdom.
Chelle selected the home-based contingent after attending three NPFL matches in recent weeks. The 48-year-old is expected to unveil his full squad later this week.

The defending champions have slipped into danger and could drop into the Nigeria National League (NNL) less than a year after winning their first title. A 2-1 win over Bayelsa United in Ikenne lifted the Sky Blue Stars out of the relegation zone.
Remo Stars must beat Bendel Insurance in their final match to guarantee safety.
“We have to work very hard to score because we have to win. We need nothing less than a win. We can’t be written off. By the grace of God, we will go there, get the three points and escape relegation,” the former Super Eagles assistant coach told the club’s media.
