The Oyo State Police Command has paraded five suspected members of a notorious gang involved in the robbing and murder of a retired Permanent Secretary with the state government, Mrs Olaitan Gbenle, in Ibadan, the state capital.
The State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Adewale Osifeso, paraded the suspects alongside 30 others involved in various crimes at the force headquarter, Eleyele, Ibadan.
Speaking to newsmen, SP Osifeso, said the suspects who were reportedly armed with sophisticated firearms and other weapons attacked the sixty eight year old woman at her residence, dispossessing her of huge sums of money and other items before murdering her.
SP Osifeso noted that a team of forensic experts and detectives attached to the command’s monitoring unit arrested the suspects at various hideouts after a detailed intelligence gathering.
The Public Relation Officer added that the suspects voluntarily confessed to the crime.
SP Osifeso added that investigations are still ongoing, noting that further development would be communicated.
Recall that the late Mrs Olaitan Gbenle was killed last November at her residence at Apata area of Ibadan.
