A Public Affairs Analyst, Engineer Kemi Babawale, says National Identification Number, NIN linkage with Bank accounts should be continuous and seamless.
Engr. Babawale made this known while featuring on Pensioners FM Current Affairs Programme, The Searchlight.
His comment followed tomorrow’s deadline given by the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN for customers to link their Bank Verification Number, BVN and/or NIN to their bank accounts and wallets.
According to Engr. Babawale, if the country has proper record keeping, linking NIN with bank accounts could be easily done by banks, especially for customers with BVN.
Engr. Babawale further suggested that National Identity Management Commission, NIMC, should open up its portal, to make the process of NIN registration seamless for Nigerians.
Various reports have suggested that Nigerians have raised issues surrounding verifying their NIN with NIMC.
CBN had last December, asked banks to restrict transactions on accounts whose NIN and BVN have not been linked, starting tomorrow.
