A Legacy of Scholarship, Service to Humanity: Prof. Udoh Celebrates 90th Birthday

Family, friends, colleagues and former students have gathered to celebrate the 90th birthday of a distinguished Professor, Christopher Ofunoye Udoh, whose decades of work have left an indelible marks on the academic community at the University of Ibadan and humanity.

Foundly referred to as a Pillar of Academia,

Prof. Udoh, has spent his career shaping the minds of countless students and younger generation.

Some of his colleagues and former students at the event described Professor Udoh as a dedicated teacher, father and friend to his students.

They highlighted his guidance, wisdom, and unwavering support, with many crediting his motivation for their own successful careers.

One of his Son in-law, Dr. Paul Emokhare described the celebration of his 90th birthday as a testament to the respect and admiration he has earned.

Speaking on behalf of the Children, the eldest son, Dr. Jerome Udoh, paid glowing tributes their father referring to him as the rock of the family and a patriarch who has provided unwavering strength and stability for decades.

He expressed admiration for his long life, resilience, wisdom, and the values he instilled in them.

Responding, the nonagenarian, Prof. Christopher Ofuonuye Udoh, expressed sincere gratitude to God for his journey in life so far. He however admonished people to beware of the likely result of their deed and actions.

The event, marked by a thanksgiving service and the cutting of a birthday cake, also served as an opportunity to reflect on the celebrants’ enduring influence.

Dignitaries and members of the community joined in the celebration, emphasising his role as a spiritual and community leader. As Professor Udoh enters this new decade, his legacy of academic excellence, selfless service, and profound impact on future generations continues to shine brightly
