Afenifere Rejects Fuel Price Increase, Calls for Transparency, Accountability

Yoruba Socio-cultural organization, Afenifere has described as shameful the inability of the federal government to revive the country’s petroleum refineries.

Afenifere’s National Publicity Secretary, Comrade Jare Ajayi, made this known while featuring on Pensioners’ FM Current Affairs Programme, “The Searchlight.”

His comment comes following the scarcity and hike in the price of petrol across the country, by Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, NNPCL.

According to Comrade Ajayi, the government needs to be transparent and accountable to Nigerians on the challenges facing the petroleum sector for solutions to be proffered.

Comrade Ajayi also urged President Bola Tinubu led administration to give Dangote Refinery all the support it needs to thrive, especially to better the petroleum sector.

Speaking further, he lauded Lagos state government for approving Yoruba Language as a subject for testing the knowledge and thinking ability of Pupils sitting for the Placement Test by Continuous Assessment Scores CAS) in the State.

He urged other southwest states to emulate Lagos State, adding that Afenifere has been on the fore front of the promotion of Yoruba Culture and Heritage for years.
