Afobaje of Ibadanland Calls for Neutrality in Selection of Monarchs

The 10th Oluwo Afobaje of Ibadanland, Chief Wahab Popoola has called on kingmakers in the western region to be neutral in the selection of monarchs to avoid succession disputes.

Chief Popoola made the call on Pensioners FM political programme, “The Searchlight” while speaking on the emergence of Oba Rashidi Ladoja as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland.

According to him, Kingmakers should follow established hierarchical systems in the selection of monarchs to avoid disputes.

Chief Popoola, urged king makers across the region to emulate Olubadan in council in choosing their monarchs.

Speaking on the rift between Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Akeem Owoade and Ooni of Ife, Adeyeye Ogunwusi, said they should find a way to settle their differences, to avoid division among the Yoruba race.

Chief Popoola called for synergy between the two monarchs for peace to reign in Yorubaland.
