The Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde has reassured families of falling heroes’ continuous support and better welfare.
Governor Makinde gave the reassurance at the Grand Finale/Laying of Wreaths of the 2024 Armed Forces and Remembrance Day, held at the Remembrance Arcade, Agodi, Ibadan.
Governor Makinde had during the launch of emblem for the 2024 Armed Forces Remembrance Day Celebration, pledged to increase Nigerian legion’s monthly subvention from 100 thousand naira to 200 thousand naira.

The Governor, also appreciated service commandants for their dedication in maintaining peace and order in the state and urged people of the State to corporate with the army, by feeding them with intelligence information when necessary.
In his remark, Chairman of the Nigerian Legion in Oyo state, Julius Ogunkojo, tasked the federal government to prioritise the welfare of security personnel and dependants of the fallen heroes.

Ogunkojo also called for the engagement of retired soldiers in the country’s security architecture.
Highlights of the annual Armed Forces and Remembrance Day include, guard of honour, wreath laying, firing of rounds in honour of the fallen heroes and the release of ceremonial pigeons.
