Nigerian Institute of Building, NIOB, Oyo State Chapter, has appealed to the State Government to assent to the bill on Building Control Agency.
Chairman of NIOB, Oyo State Chapter, Mr. Hezekiah Olaniran made this appeal while reacting to the recent building collapse in some states on Pensioners FM’s weekly current affairs Programme, Trending.
According to Mr. Olaniran, the bill would create an avenue for supervision of building structures and also generation of revenue through registration of building structures.
Mr. Olaniran noted that the bill has been awaiting the State Governor’s assent for years.
Speaking further, Mr. Olaniran attributed building collapse in the country to engagement of quacks and substandard building materials.
