A legal practitioner, Barrister Bola Adebiyi says sharing money to vulnerable Nigerians as a means to cushion the effects of fuel subsidy removal is not realistic.
Barrister Adebiyi in an interview with pensioners’ FM Correspondent shortly after featuring on Pensioners FM Current Affair Programme, “Trending” was reacting to the meeting between the federal government and labour unions, where one of the agreement was that 25,000 naira would be given to 15 million vulnerable Nigerians for three month.
According to Barrister Adebiyi, the government should channel the funds into restructuring and provision of free social amenities such as schools, hospitals and roads, noting that they were better forms of sustainable palliatives.
Barrister Adebiyi also stated that President Tinubu did not address salient issues causing economic hardship in the country.
Speaking further, the legal practitioner, berated the decision of the Labour Unions for calling off their strike slated for today, saying the basis for the agitation was defeated with the government promise of 35,000 naira provisional wage increment for federal workers.
Barrister Adebiyi also called on the labour unions to always carry all Nigerians along in their decision making and negotiation with the government and not just fighting for some sets of people.
