COAS Seeks Media Corporation in Tackling Insecurity

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja has sought the collaboration of media practitioners in combating the myriad of security challenges confronting the country.

Lieutenant General Lagbaja who was represented by the General Officer Commanding 2 division Nigeria Army, Major General, Bamidele Alabi stated this during the Nigeria Army Civil-Military Cooperation Media Chat third quarter held at Tigers Officers Mess, Agodi, Ibadan.

The Lieutenant General while speaking on the theme “Leveraging Media to Enhance Nigeria’s Internal Security Operations” said the advent of the new media has blurred the line between professionalism and quackery and this has also endangered the society.

He further stated that the country requires a healthy Military-Media relationship in combating insecurity and terrorism in the country.

Earlier in his welcome address, the Chief of Civil-Military Affairs, Major General Nosa Ugbo noted that the chat was part of the obligation of the army to keep Nigerians abreast of their activities.

On his part, one of the guest speakers, retired Major General Bamidele Omozoje, advised the country to introduce security-education into the country’s school curriculums

Highlights of the media chat include lectures and presentation of awards and certificates to participants.
