The Oyo State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Salihu Adelabu, has charged the 33 Education Secretaries; Heads of Section School Services; Planning Research and Statistics; Standard and Quality Assurance to discharge their duties with high sense of transparency.
The Commissioner gave the charge while meeting with Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board, SUBEB Stakeholders at Lagelu Grammar School, Agugu, Oremeji, Ibadan,sued for cordial working relationship with them so as to improve the standard of education at the basic level .
He urged them to be good ambassadors of the state while discharging their duties, saying the board would be looking for their feedback.
He commended Governor Seyi Makinde for his passion towards the development of education, which is evident in the massive provision of infrastructure in various Schools.
The Commissioner also advised Education Secretaries and other stakeholders in the sector to be in constant touch with the headquarters of SUBEB for free flow of information and seek clarification on issues that are not clear to them.
He said: “You are expected to work very hard at your jurisdictions to complement the efforts of State Universal Basic Education Board in particular and the state government at large.
“The state government is doing its best to raise the standard of education in the state as well as provide necessary infrastructure which can only be achieved with the support of the stakeholders.
“I want you to redouble your efforts in monitoring the teachers, pupils within your territory for effective service delivery.
Speaking on behalf of the education Secretaries, Education Secretary, Ido Local government, Mr. Bukola Adigun, pledged their commitment to the development of basic education and total support to Governor Makinde’s led administration.
The meeting had in attendance the 33 Education Secretaries, Heads of Sections School Services; Planning Research and Statistics; Standard and Quality Assurance among others.
