By Yetunde Oke

An environmental expert, Mr Gboyega Olorunfemi says a state of emergency should be declared on environmental issues such as flooding and illegal refuse dumping in Oyo state.

Mr Olorunfemi, made this known while featuring on ‘Isejoba rere’ a development agenda weekly programme of JDPC, Ibadan with the support of Meserior on Pensioners’ FM.

According to Mr Olorunfemi, the Oyo state government needs to review its environmental and sanitation laws, saying climate change which is a major reason for environmental issues is not static and laws should suit every change that may occur.

Mr Olorunfemi also said offenders of the laws should be punished to serve as a deterrent to others.

Speaking further, the environmental expert noted that waste management could create employment and wealth, urging Governor Seyi Makinde’s administration to collaborate stakeholders in the waste management sector in achieving this.

Isejoba Rere’ which is a development agenda programme by JDPC, Ibadan with the support of Meserior, holds every Thursday on Pensioners FM from half past two to 3’ O’clock in the afternoon.
