Some professional Builders in Oyo State have warned home owners against
involving quacks in building construction works.
Head of Department of Building Technology, The Polytechnic Ibadan, Mrs
Bolatito Akinbile and Vice Chairman, Nigeria Institute of Building, NIOB,
Oyo State Chapter, Mr Femi Adeyi gave the warning while featuring on
Pensioners FM Current Affairs Programme “Trending “.
According to Mrs Akinbile and Mr Adeyi, the involvement of quacks in
building construction projects has been the major causes of building
collapse in recent times.
Mrs Akinbile and Mr Adeyi also noted that people who engaged services of
quacks rather than professional builders were putting the lives of
occupants of the buildings in danger.
Also speaking, National Chairman, Association of Young Builders of Nigeria,
AOYB, Mr Aderemi Adenigbagbe said professional builders must have
required academic and professional qualifications.
Mr Adenigbagbe also appealed to the National Assembly to facilitate the
legislation of the National Building code to regulate the building industry.
