Media professionals have been urged to create tactical strategies toward managing resources while in service, as part of post-retirement plan.
This was the advice given by the guest lecturer, a Finance and Business Management Strategist, Mr Adewale Kehinde at the 2025 Press Week Lecture, organised by Nigeria Union Journalists, NUJ Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, Ibadan Chapel held in Ibadan, Oyo State capital.
Speaking on the theme “Post-Retirement for Journalists: Planning a Financial Future”, Mr Kehinde urged media professionals to invest in part time business during active service.
Mr Kehinde, advised prospective retirees among media professionals to build sustainable retirement budget and maintain healthy habit.

In a goodwill message, Secretary, Nigeria Union of Pensioners, Oyo state council, Comrade Olusegun Abatan, represented by General Manager, Pensioners FM, Dr Babatunde Tiamiyu, lauded the organisers for the lectures and urged prospective retirees in the media organisation to develop interest outside their career as another source of income ahead of retirement.

On his part, Chairman and Oyo State Local Government Pension’s Board, Honourable Akeem Ige who reiterated Oyo state government commitment toward workers welfare, urged prospective retirees to plan future retirement during their service.

Zonal Director, FRCN, Mr Dominic Mokikan advised prospective retirees on the importance of personal development in their profession, urging them not to retire themselves from learning new thing.

Chairman, NUJ FRCN Ibadan Chapel, Comrade Oluwakayode Banjo while appreciating everyone at the lecture, urged members to retrain themselves after service.
