The National President, Football Fans Club of Nigeria, Ambassador Oluwakemi Ogunfuwa, has congratulated the newly-appointed Chairman of the National Sports Commission, Mallam Shehu Dikko, describing his appointment as appropriate.
This is contained in statement by the National Media Officer of the FFCN, Sunday Agunbiade. She noted that the Kaduna-born football administrator will bring a speedy development to Nigerian sports and youths at large having Shehu Dikko at the helms of affairs.
Former member of Lagos State Women’s football committee said:
“On behalf of the entire members and Executives of Football Fans Club of Nigeria, FFCN, I heartily rejoice with the astute football administrator who is also a marketing expert and former Chairman of Nigeria’s elite League, Mallam Shehu Dikko on the occasion of his appointment as the new Chairman, National Sports Commission. This appointment is no doubt a round peg in a round hole”
“I was extremely glad when the nation’s President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, announced the appointment of Dikko, former FIFA and CAF Committee member.
‘‘He has served close to eight years as Chairman of the Nigeria Professional Football League (now Nigeria Premier Football League) and second Vice President of the NFF, as Chairman of the reintroduced National Sports Commission, throwing overboard the Federal Ministry of Sports Development will bring a great deal of accomplishments and development to the Commission “.
Ogunfuwa added: “This is a huge opportunity for the former second Vice President of the nation’s football governing body to further impact the nation’s sporting arena. He is now on top of Nigerian sports as recently announced by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, that Mallam Shehu Dikko will lead Nigerian sports in such capacity. I have no doubt that he has the knowledge, skill, experience, steadfastness, temperament, diligence and intelligence to make a success in the National Sports Commission. ‘‘May the Almighty God guide our new helmsman, in Minister capacity but Chairmanship nomenclature, to bring a speedy development that Nigeria yearns for. Shehu Dikko served as chairman of various committees in the NFF, including marketing and sponsorship, and was a member of the CAF Inter-Clubs Committee.
He is also a member of the FIFA Football Stakeholders Committee.
