A financial Analyst, Mr Wale Akintola, has said that the creation of a Federal Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy would harness potentials in the nation’s marine sector.
Mr Akintola, who is also a lecturer at The Polytechnic Ibadan General Studies Development, made this known while featuring on Pensioners FM weekly Current Affairs program “Trending”
The Financial Analyst lauded President Bola Tinubu for creating the ministry, as there were huge investments in port infrastructure, shipbuilding facilities, and coastal management systems.
According to Mr. Akintola, the impact of the ministry on Nigeria’s economy is expected to be far-reaching as it will facilitate economic diversification and reduce the nation’s reliance on oil as the primary revenue source.
Mr Akintola however urged the federal government and the ministry to implement policies that would bring about the actualisation of the various potentials inherent in the nation’s marine sector.
