The Afobaje of Ibadanland, Chief Wahab Mosadogun, says traditional rulers should not interfere in the affairs of religion in upholding the sanctity of the traditional system.
Chief Mosadogun, made this known while reacting to the beating of Oba Yusuf Olaiya, the Ajeniju of Halleluyah community, Egbedore local government council area of Osun State by some youths, on Pensioners FM Current Affairs Programme, “The Searchlight.”
The Afobaje, while condemning the act, said traditional rulers have no business interfering in matters outside the traditional system.
According to report, some youths from Ido-Osun community had allegedly attacked Oba Olaiya for installing Hammed Tijani as the Chief Imam of Halleluyah community.
However, reacting to the incident, Oba Olaiya refuted claims of installing an Imam on Ido-Osun land, adding that the newly installed Imam only conducted prayers in front of his palace, which is outside the jurisdiction of Ido-Osun.
