Oyo state Governor, Seyi Makinde has called for more deployment of Police personnel to further strengthen the force in curbing the nefarious activities of criminals within the state’s geo -political zones.
Governor Makinde made the call while hosting the Acting Inspector General of Police, Mr Kayode Egbetokun who paid him a courtesy call onhis office.
Governor Makinde represented by the Deputy Governor, Barrister Bayo Lawal, expressed the state’s readiness to continually support the Force, for effective policing across the state.
The governor called on the Police authority to help in fortifying the Mobile Police Unit sited at the Oke Ogun Axis with necessary security equipment for better and credible performance against illegal mining, kidnapping and banditry.
In his remarks, the acting IGP, Egbetokun lauded the support of the state government to the State police command in discharging their statutory duties.
Mr Egbetokun also pledged continuous collaboration with the state security outfit code named Amotekun to complement the Nigeria Police Force in providing constabulary support for community policing.
Among the attendees of the event were the Secretary to the state government, Prof. Olanike Adeyemo, the state Commissioner for information and Orientation, Prince Dotun Oyelade, and some Security advisers to the state governor.
