Members of Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, Oyo state council today began a two days protest in Ibadan metropolis against the high level of hardship in the country.
The rally facilitated by the national body of NLC across the country was to protest against federal government’s unfriendly policies.
Pensioners FM correspondent reports that the protesters with different placards marched from NLC Secretariat at Agodi through Agodi Gate, Total Garden and Mokola.
Speaking with newsmen, Chairman, Oyo NLC, Comrade Kayode Martins said the protest was a warning to the federal government and urged them to avoid the risk of industrial action.
Comrade Martins called on the government to urgently proffer solutions to hardship faced by Nigerians by meeting their demands.
Addressing the protesters, Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde appealed to them to be peaceful and promised to submit their demands to President Bola Tinubu.
Governor Makinde equally said his government would continue to strengthen the industrial harmony in the state.
Some of the protesters appealed to President Tinubu to reconsider most of his harsh policies that led to hike in the cost of food items.
Pensioners FM Correspondent reports that security operatives were on ground to maintain peace and order.
