Chairman, Central Organising Committee for the Annual Ede Day, 2024, Hon. Luqman Afolabi has described the promotion of cultural heritage, education and sound innovations as factors responsible for the growth and development of the ancient town.
Represented by Chairman, Education Sub-Committee for the event, Dr. Kazeem Kolapo, Hon. Afolabi made this known while featuring on a special programme on Pensioners FM to unveil activities lined up for this year’s Ede Day celebration.
According to him, the essence of the day is to appreciate and celebrate the indigenes of Ede land that have contributed to the progress of the town.
Hon. Afolabi said the programmes of the celebration which start from the 1st of December, 2024 and will be climaxed on Saturday, 7th of December, 2024, include press conference, interdenominational prayers, health talks, educative related programmes and grand finale which will include Lectures, Awards and Cultural display.

He noted that the grand finale of the event will accommodate all sons and daughters of the town with the Asiwaju of Ede land and Osun state Governor, Ademola Adeleke as well as four southwest governors expected to be in attendance at the event that will hold at Ede High School, Ede from 10am.
Hon. Afolabi however applauded governor Adeleke for the love he has shown for his home town, adding that within shortest period of his administration, Ede has witnessed tremendous development in all facets.
He also congratulated the father of the town and Timi of Edeland, Oba Muniredeen Lawal Laminisa 1 for bringing peace and unity to the town.
The chairman therefore urged indigenes of the town at home and in Diaspora to support the committee towards making this year’s Ede Day a successful event for the overall peace, development and progress of the historical town.
