‘I killed my mother for not bathing me’ – Oforbuike

The people of Ohatekwe Ukawu in Onicha Local Government Area of Ebonyi State have banished a 20-year-old man, Damian Oforbuike, for allegedly killing his mother.

Newsmen reports that the incident, which occurred over the weekend, has thrown the community into mourning.

Sources in the community who spoke with Vanguard said the suspect allegedly attacked his mother, Onyemaechi, with a machete before fleeing into a nearby forest.

Following the incident, youths of the community reportedly mobilized, tracked him to his hideout in the forest, and apprehended him.

He was thereafter paraded around the community and banished with a warning never to return.

In a viral video recorded during the parade, the suspect allegedly confessed to committing the act, citing grievances over his mother’s refusal to meet certain demands.

“I killed my mother because she refused to bathe me and also refused to rent a shop for my brother who learned barbing and needed money to start,” he said.

The councilor representing the area, Maduabuchi Nweke, confirmed the incident, stating that over 200 youths were mobilized to search the forest and apprehend the suspect.

He added that the suspect has since been handed over to the police for further investigation.

Meanwhile, the remains of the deceased have been deposited in a morgue as the community continues to grapple with the tragic incident.
