Market traders in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, have announced the closure of markets in the ancient city. The traders noted that the closure became necessary in order to honour the 43rd Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Akinloye Owolabi Olakulehin.
According to reports, the final burial of the traditional ruler has been slated to hold today.
The Babaloja General in the state, Alhaji Yekeen Abass, while speaking, said that traders have been mandated to shut markets today in order to honour the traditional ruler.
Alhaji Abass added that the partial closure of markets in Ibadanland is expected to start from 5 a.m. till 12 p.m. today, Friday, August 8, 2025.
Alhaji Abass advised traders to ensure strict compliance with the directive in their various markets.
