An Islamic scholar, Sheikh Fadlu Rahman, has described wealth distribution (Zakat) as a compulsory act of charity for all Muslim faithful.
Sheikh Rahman made this known during the 2026 edition of the Zakat Distribution Exercise held at the Senator Isiaq Abiola Ajimobi Central Mosque, Ibadan.
According to Sheikh Rahman, the distribution of Zakat serves as a means of wealth redistribution in society.
He also noted that there are specific conditions and a set threshold a Muslim must meet before being eligible to pay Zakat.

The Chairman on the Occasion, Barrister Abdulwaheed Bello, encouraged the beneficiaries to make use of the money for lawful purposes in the sight of God.
Barrister Bello further noted that if the funds are properly utilised, some of the beneficiaries may also become contributors to the Zakat fund by next Ramadan.

In his remarks, the organiser of the Zakat distribution, Alhaji Ismail Saka, disclosed that about 80 people benefited from the programme, with each receiving Zakat funds totaling ₦150,000, amounting to about ₦12 million.
Some of the beneficiaries expressed appreciation to the organisers and philanthropists for the gesture.
