Lagos Govt. Gives Lekki Illegal Building Owners One Week to Leave

The Lagos State Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, has given a seven-day contravention notice to owners of buildings on Orchid Road, Agungi, Ajiran, Conservation Road, Osapa all along the Ikota River.

The Director of Public Affairs at the Ministry of Environment and Water Resources, Kunle Adesina, disclosed this in a post via social media on Monday.

Adesina said Wahab gave the notice alongside the Special Adviser to the Governor on Environment, Olakunle Rotimi-Akodu, after an inspection tour of the Ikota River corridor.

He said the inspection tour was to find out the level of compliance by property owners whose buildings and fences fall within the approved seven-metre setback on both sides of the channel.

“The Lagos State Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab on Sunday issued a seven-day contravention notice to owners of buildings lying within the seven-metre setback on Orchid rd, Agungi, Ajiran, Conservation Road, Osapa all along the Ikota River,” he posted.
