Makinde to Align Monthly Pension with New Minimum Wage Scale

The Oyo state Governor, Seyi Makinde has promised to meet with labour leaders this week on the need to readjust the monthly pension in line with new minimum wage scale.

Governor Makinde made the promise at an interfaith service to usher in the New Year, held at the secretariat, Ibadan.

The Governor assured that his administration would work out a sustainable framework to offset backlog of pensions and gratuities.

He acknowledged the cooperation of labour leaders and pledged to always reward hard work.

In her address, Head of Service, Mrs Olubunmbi Oni, said the worker friendly policies of Governor Makinde have brought positive changes and urged civil servants to reciprocate the gesture by exhibiting discipline, loyalty, honesty and hard work.

The Speaker, Oyo state House Assembly, Honourable Adebo Ogundoyin, represented by the deputy Speaker, Hon. Muhammed Fadeyi, and the State Chief Judge, Justice Iyabo Yerima, represented by Justice Olusegun Olagunju, charged the state workers to rededicate themselves to service of the State in 2025.

Highlights of the event attended by the Secretary, Nigeria Union of Pensioners, Comrade Olusegun Abatan, were sermons from Muslim, Christian and traditional leaders.
