Federal and State Governments all over the Federation have again being tasked on the need for them to fund properly their Media Outfits for efficient and effective performance of their duties
The National Coordinator of the Muslim Media Watch Group of Nigeria Alhaji Abdullahi Ibrahim made the call when he led members of the Group on a Courtesy Visit to the newly appointed General Manager of FRCN Idofian Kwara State Hajia Binta Mora.
Alhaji Ibrahim observed that most federal and state government radio and television Stations were working under serious hardship due to lack of state of the art equipment and other facilities; pointing out that in this digital era, not only Abuja and Zonal Stations need be well-equipped but all the Stations owned by the Federal Government across the Federation.
The Group commended the staff of FRCN Idofian popularly referred to as HARMONY FM 103.5 and congratulated the new General Manager of the Station Hajia Mora on her appointment.
The Media Group National Coordinator Alh. Abdullahi Ibrahim said the mandate under which the Group operates is to ensure that Media Outfits irrespective of their proprietorship operate under convenient atmosphere, good professional and ethical practice upon which they are established.
He also commended the Management of FRCN for Uplifting the Nation and Uniting our People’.
He condemned those using traditional and social media for spread of fake-news and called for stiff penalty in our laws to purnish purveyors of fake-news.
Responding, the General Manager of FRCN Idofian Hajia Binta Mora thanked the Muslim Media Watch Group of Nigeria for standing by the Station and other Media Houses especially on sponsorship of Islamic Programmes, encouraging Islamic Bodies and individuals to sponsor islamic programmes and promotion of ethical values in broadcasting.
She appealed for more support from Organizations and well-meaning individuals to assist the Station so as to serve the people and Governments creditably.
